Serious efforts are invested in these days in
Israel to include in the 2010-2011 government
budget substantial funds for absorbing returning
scientists in the academy, industry and public
service sectors. BioAbroad representatives
are participating in the academy and industry
sub-committees that have been assigned to these
matters. We hope these efforts will be successful
and we will update on the recommendations of the
different sub-committees involved in this work.
Here are several important
announcements:
- BioMed 2009 takes place in June 16-18.
This is Israel's leading biomedical exhibition
and conference. If you consider applying for
work in the Israeli industry BioAbroad will be happy
to introduce your CV to relevant companies
. In order for us to do so please send your CV
and the following form to
info@bioabroad.org.il by June
12.
- BioAbroad and Misrad Haklita will start
distributing personal grants for job
interviews travel to Israel. Maximum
grant is 50% of the flight ticket cost up to
$700. Grants will be given every month by
BioAbroad-Misrad Haklita's steering committee,
retroactively for travels made from April 2009, to the
applicants with the largest number of
interviews. The full guidelines for candidates

signed applications with a copy of the flight

Bar-Ilan University is pleased
to announce a new faculty recruitment initiative.
Candidates for a tenure track position as members of
the Bar-Ilan Institute of Nanotechnology and Advanced
Materials in the Departments of Chemistry, Physics,
Life Science and Engineering are sought. Junior and

USA disseminates information on research policies

distribute a monthly electronic newsletter and
maintain a website with information of potential
interest to European researchers in the US.
It also organizes networking meetings and events

). Membership in the network is free, and member
information is kept confidential.

- When returning to Israel, you ar eligable for a
special discount from El Al. Choosing your
exact return flight with El Al is done now
directly with ElAl by using the following
document.
- The levels of the financial support to the
employer of a returning scientist were recently
doubled to about 60,000 NIS per year for two years, a list of the
support levels are here. Scientists from abroad
can now receive eligibility letter from Misrad
Haklita for potential employers prior to
their return (after registering as a returning
scientist). We hope this will increase the
chances that an employer will employo scientists
from abroad.
