Shalom BioAbroad Member

We are happy to announce that BioAbroad signed a 1M NIS contract with the ministry of Absorption for supporting our activities and strengthening the communication with Israel.  Besides supporting our on going operation the contract includes a budget for flight tickets stipends for job interviews in Israel.  The limitation we have in receiving this budget is that it is granted as a matching to funds we bring from external sources.  Please write to us about potential donors you know that will help us use the funds given by Misrad Haklita.
  • Other good news from Israel - a cross-ministries committee for bringing back Israeli scientists started its activity and is headed by the director of the Ministry of Absorption.  At the beginning of June the committee will present recommendations about employment solutions and incentives for returning scientists related to the academia, industry, healthcare system and education system.  BioAbroad is very involved in the committee.
  • The Weizmann institute announces a new type of position: Senior Intern.  This is an advanced/instructor-equal position which is conducted under an existing Weizmann's PI. The position includes social benefits.  Details are here.
  • The levels of the financial support to employer who employ returning scientists were recently doubled to about 60,000 NIS per year for two years, a list of the support levels are here. Scientists from abroad can now receive eligibility letter from Misrad Haklita for potential employers prior to their return (after registering as a returning scientist).  We hope this will increase the attractiveness for employers to empoy scientists from abroad.
  • Can your idea be commercialized?  - BioAbroad will assist you in finding Israelis abroad that may be interested in working with you on commercializing your idea.  We can also direct you to experienced people who you will be able to consult with.  You can find more details on entrepreneurship and the Israeli incubators program in our "For the Entrepreneur" section. For more information write to Rami Lotem rami@bioabroad.org.il
